Domaine Clavel in the Côtes du Rhône Villages of Saint Gervais

This small, family winery run by Denis Clavel, his wife, Franҫoise, and their daughter, Claire, is located in the little known Côtes du Rhône Villages of St. Gervais on the western edge of the Southern Rhône. The land there imparts a special minerality on its wines, and this combined with good body and flavors of rich, dark fruit, give this wine a wonderful licorice-y flavor.  Wines from this area go for a slight premium over regulars Côte du Rhône wines, but it’s well worth the couple extra dollars!

More on the winery:
Spanning just over 80 hectares of vineyards, this domaine is certified ‘terra vitis’ which shows its commitment to sustainability. Using traditional vinification processes, each wine is bottled according to long-established methods instigated by the family long ago. The ages of the vines are 40 years old, which again is an illustration of the established family connection to the estate. Every wine produced here has a unique name and reason for its individuality.

We carry the Domaine Clavel 2007 Syrius Côtes du Rhône Villages Saint Gervais. Let me know if you are interested in tasting this wine for sale in your business.

Cheers!
