I went to Europe in the spring of 2011 with Prosecco at the top of my list of wines I needed to find. There had been a shortage in the market the previous holiday season (that I had experienced as a retailer) and I was determined to find an excellent Prosecco at a good price to import. While I was there, I tasted a lot of excellent, expensive Prosecco & plenty of cheap, unremarkable Prosecco, but it wasn’t until the end of my last day there, that I found Innocente Nardi, who owns & runs La Farra with his brother, Guido. I was excited as I tasted his lineup as I knew this was what I was looking for: wonderfully light, great texture, perfect acidity, just delicious Prosecco! The price was a little high, but Innocente worked with me as he liked the idea of selling in our market, and we price these wines as competitively as any in our book to keep them at an affordable price point. I highly recommend these wines!

La Farra is comprised of 20 hectares of vineyards located along “Prosecco Road” in Farra di Soligo deep in the midst of the land that produces Prosecco Superiore: Conegliano Valdobbiadene. This prime location allows the winery to produce superior quality grapes which best combine the floral scents associated with the land of Valdobbiadene and the flavors typical to those of Conegliano. La Farra combines modern viticulture, respect of the environment, and expert vine growing techniques in order to create perfect conditions for the grapes grown in the vineyards.
The name “La Farra” is derived from the word ‘fare’ in ancient Lombard dialect (once occupants of this area). ‘Fare’ were groups of families or individuals who descended from a common ancestor, joined together by common ties; ‘Farra di Soglio’ means the family group who settled near the river Soglio. Along with excellent prosecco vineyards, this area is home to the Credazzo Towers (an ancient fort built sometime in the 13th century), the Chiesette (small churches located in San Lorenzo, San Viglio, St. Martin, & St. Gallen), and the village of Collagù; home to an enchanting panoramic view.
Currently, La Farra produces upwards of more than 300,000 bottles per year. All vineyard processes are still done by hand, and the winery is entirely run by the Nardi brothers (Innocente & Guido). Both are passionate viticulturists who both studied at the oldest oenology school in Italy: Scuola Enologica di Conegliano.
Both Innocente & Guido believe that excellent wines are obtained through high quality grapes, and a strong attention throughout the winemaking process. La Farra’s technological equipment (temperature control, modern system of natural secondary fermentation in autoclave, isobaric fully automated bottling system) and awareness for the most up-to-date oenological knowledge, allow the wine to combine both the natural excellence of the grapes with excellent execution of the wines.
